How do I choose a marketing company for my service business?

Judge them on three things. Proof: can they show their own visibility, because a marketing company you cannot find is telling you something. Ownership: do you keep the site, content, and accounts if you leave. And reporting: do they talk in booked jobs and calls, or hide behind clicks and impressions.

The ownership question catches the most traps. Some firms keep the site, the reviews platform, even the phone number. Leave, and your marketing vanishes with them. Everything built should be yours.

Ask how they measure. If the answer is traffic and rankings with no line to actual jobs, the incentives are wrong. The number that matters is what a booked job costs through them.

And check them the way your customers would check you: search their name, read their reviews, ask ChatGPT about them. A company that cannot market itself will not out-market your competitors.
